Wine information
Benguela Cove is situated in the Walker Bay sub-region, just an hour from Cape Town International Airport. Poised on the edge of the Bot River Lagoon, the area is teeming with bird life and natural fauna and flora with the Atlantic Ocean gracing the horizon. The estate, which has 70-hectares of vines, was purchased by entrepreneur Penny Streeter OBE in 2013. The estate has been rewarded for its craftsmanship, led by experienced cellar master Johann Fourie. This Méthode Cap Classique allures with vivid aromas of candied apple, pear and sweet almonds that comes to life when the fine mousse explodes on the surface. The expected bright acidity is balanced with a tangy finish, concluded with a fresh floral note.
Robin says "This Méthode Cap Classique is really eye-opening. Poised and fresh, it nicely balances the typical Champagne grapes of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir but with the subtle addition of Sauvignon Blanc for added fruit. Produced with the traditional method, it spends 12 months on its lees, adding complexity and a gentle creaminess."

Different!
Was a bit of an impulse buy just to try something different, and this certainly was. Drier than most prosecco but not as rich as some Cava and some Champagne. Would drink it again.
