Oldenburg Vineyards Rondekop "Rhodium" 2016
Oldenburg Vineyards lies in an elevated area of outstanding beauty, Banghoek Valley, which means "scary corner" due to the roaming leopards. Only 8 kilometres from Stellenbosch on the road to Franschhoek, you will find their vineyards surrounded by a spectacular mountain amphitheatre. At the heart of the farm lies Rondekop – their iconic, round hill which influences the vineyards planted on and around it. In 2003 current owner and entrepreneur, Adrian Vanderspuy, acquired Oldenburg from his grandmother. He began analyzing the terroir and climate before replanting the vines, giving the estate a new life. The result is nothing short of spectacular. Their 2016 Rondekop Rhodium is plush and enveloping with appealing notes of smoke, bramble fruits, meat and a touch of tar. A wine that could beautifully accompany grilled steak or mushrooms.
