Bodega Familia Schroeder Alpataco Malbec 2021
£12.50
Bodega Familia Schroeder is the fruit of the effort of a family of entrepreneurs who made their dream come true. In 2001, Herman Heinz Teodoro Schroeder, the son of pioneering German immigrants in Patagonia, decided to invest in vineyards with his children. Patagonia is one of the most southerly wine growing regions in the world and characterised by its unique microclimate and cooler air that creates a more elegant style of New World wine. This is a beautiful example of what Malbec can do in cooler climates. A fresh, poised nose of raspberry, redcurrant, black cherry and violets leads to a smooth, polished palate. Well balanced with a nicely integrated finish of chocolate, spice and juicy fruit.
Robin says "A pleasant wine and what the French call "digeste", which means it slips easily down and has lift and freshness. I really appreciate its "crunch" because you can feel the coolness of the fruit, but it remains ripe and not herbaceous. Highly recommended, particularly to those who think Malbec must be rich and heavy."
