Bodegas Ramírez de la Piscina Rioja Crianza Selección 2019
£17.55
Ramírez de la Piscina is an ancient aristocratic family name which originated from the 12th Century Romanesque Church of Santa María de la Piscina. In early 1945, Julio Ramírez de la Piscina followed the tradition of grape growing which he had inherited from his parents and continued cultivating the family vineyards in Ábalos, a village within the Rioja Alta. Bodegas Ramirez was eventually founded in 1973, and he began to sell his own bottled wine. Since 1980, Julio’s children Cecilio, Julio and Pilar have been running the winery, specialising in traditional Tempranillo. The Crianza Selección comes from 30-year-old vines and combines both youthful and mature characteristics. Polished tannins, black cherry, spice and vanilla in abundance. Just delicious!
Robin says "Ramírez de la Piscina is more of a traditional producer, but their wines are not shy of density or fruit. Their Crianza Selección is a wine that truly sings. Slightly opulent but balanced with ample and appealing earthy tones and sweet dried and fresh fruits. Notably moreish!"
