Buisson-Charles Pommard En Mareau 2017
£45.00
Buisson-Charles is a brilliant producer in Meursault, and under the radar perhaps in light of some of its its exalted neighbours. Fourth generation, Catherine Buisson-Essa and her husband Patrick Essa, who is also the winemaker, hold the reigns. Analytical, philosophical, and intuitive, Patrick meticulously vinifies each wine for it to express its greatest attributes. On the nose there are delightful touches of red currant, bramble fruits, graphite and violets. The palate is rich and has the density you expect from Pommard, but has real freshness that it is true to the producer. This is really appealing indeed.
Robin says "This "village" Pommard comes from a specific vineyard which is virtually unknown. It benefits from a great location, one that soaks up the sun but remains temperate. As a result, Patrick is able to harness its gorgeous fruit, but the wine still remains fresh. The 2017 vintage reflects these same characters. I just love its "crunchy" personality and expansive mouthfeel."
