Château Gros Moulin

Côtes de Bourg 2017

AOC Cotes de Bourg, Bordeaux, France

Blend: 40% Merlot, 40% Malbec, 20% Cabernet Franc | 14.5% ABV

£13.50

Discover this French red blend, a really delicious wine from a Bordeaux appellation that is a bit off the beaten path, Côtes de Bourg. The Gros Moulin has an appealing balance between its sweet fruit and its meaty, spicy core. Its Malbec (40%) would make this a great choice for those that love Argentine wines, particularly to pair with grilled steak or portobello mushrooms.

Eleventh generation winemaker Rémy Eymas is now in charge of the winery.

He grew up working with his father in the vineyard every summer during school vacation. He studied courses that were focused on agriculture and engineering at a university in Bordeaux. Rémy decided to become a winemaker when he realized that chemistry and biology were involved.

The vineyard has 30 hectares of vines for red and 2 hectares for white.

The estate enjoys a beautiful southern exposure, swept by the winds touching the first hillside of the Côtes de Bourg overlooking the Dordogne. Defined as the “Little Switzerland of Girondine”, the Côtes de Bourg has incredible topographical complexity. Thus, the vines of Château Gros Moulin are planted on plots alternating between clay-limestone and clay-sandy soils.

Red | Still | 75cl | 14.5% ABV

Recognition: Concours International de Lyon 2020: Gold

Vinification: Mechanical harvest, grapes sorting, alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation in concrete tanks with temperature control, aging in French oak barrels for 6 months.
