In 1986, Philippe Durand, the current winemaker took over the winery from his father and has since then devoted himself to the modernization of the property, with the greatest respect for the terroir, the environment, and the traditional practices of vine cultivation.

Rocher Corbin, a 10 hectare property, extends on the west coast of Tertre de Calon, one of the highest points of the region, in the heart of the Montagne-Saint Emilion appellation, a few km from Saint-Emilion, on the shore right of the Dordogne.

This prime location which ideally exposes the vines to the sun, and the clay-limestone soil well drained by the slope, make it a great terroir for the grape varieties of our region.

The predominant Merlot is complemented by Cabernet Franc, an essential grape variety to bring structure and complexity to our wines. In 2019, a plot of Malbec was planted, with the intention of giving more fruit to the wine.

Cellaring: Can enjoy it now, but will benefit from waiting a few years in the cellar.

Vinification: The grapes are harvested at optimal maturity, by hand, bunch by bunch, in small crates to preserve the integrity of the fruit. These manual harvests make it possible to sort the grapes, first on vines in the vineyard, then on reception in the vat room (sorting tables).

The meticulous work of vinification is also carried out with total respect for the grapes. No crushing, in order to keep a maximum of whole berries. Vatting and fermentation at low temperature in thermo-regulated tanks. Since the 2016 harvest, winemaking has been conducted without sulfur.
