Wine information

In 1988, A Danish-American couple, Hans and Carrie Jorgensen set out in a sailboat to find a place to start a family and plant vines. They came to Alentejo and they found “Cortes de Cima.” It was just a barren land and a few abandoned buildings. But Carrie, of Portuguese ancestry, said the landscape reminded her of California, her homeland. Hans, who was born in Denmark, fell in love with the Mediterranean sun. Their first wine was "born" in 1998 and the many successful vintages which followed as well as their pioneering spirit have put Cortes de Cima on the map. This ‘signature’ white is wonderfully aromatic with nectarine, brioche and lemongrass. Fermented and aged in 500 litres barrels, it has a refined, creamy core that gives it additional layers and weight.

Robin says "Cortes de Cima's flagship white is an appealing blend of aromatic varieties like its other wines, but this one has a step up in concentration and complexity. Gentle oak ageing smoothes out its tropical characters and adds a dash of sophistication making this feel a bit "fuller" though it still has notable balance and freshness."
