Domaine Jean-Claude Regnaudot Maranges 1er Cru Clos des Loyères 2018
£24.50
Quiet and reflective, Didier Regnaudot is the 4th generation to be the steward of his family's vines. Located in the typical Burgundian village of Dézize-Les-Maranges, the domaine was only created in 1950 after selling their grapes for years to other, larger producers. Burgundy drinking has become a sport for the rich with many of today’s prices, so it is refreshing to know that some delicious bottles can still be found at a fraction of the cost. Clos des Loyères features a bright and juicy palate, full of sweet red bramble fruits, discreet roasted spice and fine, chalky tannins on the finish.
Robin says "Located at the most southern end of the Côte de Beaune next to Santenay, Maranges can produce lovely, good value wines because it just really is not well known. This 2018 Clos des Loyères comes from vines that are 45 years old, and despite its moderate richness, it remains fresh, lifted and elegant."
