Francesco is exactly the sort of winemaker we love. Young, dynamic, hard-working, self-made and a go-getter. Though Francesco was born and raised in Montalcino, his family doesn’t come from a winemaking family. His father originally bought 1 hectare of steep hillside land with sheep, olive trees and a few ancient and abandoned vines for family use. Francesco later discovered this land was within the parameters of DOCG Brunello di Montalcino, so there was only thing to do. This Rosso is an explosion of ripe red fruits, dark berries, spice, and earthy notes. A cracking all rounder with real substance. Well-balanced and made to please.
Robin says "Rosso di Montalcino is a more approachable version of Brunello and also produced with 100% Sangiovese. Francesco's Rosso still packs in some volume and depth but in a succulent round style. A delicious wine."
