Les Vins Margnat is a long-established producer that was originally founded in 1895 by Edouard Margnat, a native of Lyon who settled in Marseille. Over the years, the company evolved and changed direction and today they focus on providing well-made and well-priced wine from grapes around Provence, including a number of rosés. Their 2020 Morpho is named after the beautiful tropical butterfly and is produced from a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon. On the palate, it is crisp, refreshing and balanced offering lively red fruit flavours, peaches and citrus notes. A perfect accompaniment to grilled meats, Indian dishes, Italian salumi amongst many other things…or just a nice quaffer on its own.
Robin says 'The Aix-en-Provence appellation is an excellent alternative to Côtes de Provence as it has many of the same attributes but at a slightly more affordable price. The Morpho 2020 will tick many boxes for those who appreciate southern French rosé.'
