Middle-Earth Wines Pinot Meunier Rosé 2020
£14.50
Middle-Earth Wines are located in the prized wine region of Nelson, a lesser known area of New Zealand that is tucked away in a nook on the northern end of its southern island. They named their winery after the region’s location which is considered the geographical centre or “middle-earth” of New Zealand, synonymous with the Middle-earth created by J.R.R. Tolkien. Launched in only 2011, the winery is family-owned and operated, and they work 50 hectares across multiple vineyard blocks planted on well-draining, ancient alluvial soils. Their sheep provide natural grass and weed control. From their 100% sustainable vineyards, they produce several ranges of cool climate wines that are balanced and filled with vibrant varietal characters that reflect their vineyards and region. Middle-Earth is their premium line, featuring three whites, a red and a rosé. Their 2020 Rosé is produced from Pinot Meunier (which some just call Meunier) and features a wonderfully petal pink hue and notes of pomegranate and citrus fruits. Juicy and fresh.
Robin says 'Pinot Meunier is a variety from the Champagne region which is known for its appealing juicy fruit adding red berry notes to Champagne blends though very occasionally it is also made on its own. An interesting and lesser seen grape for rosé.'
