Wine information
Mt. Difficulty’s story started in 1990 when four owners of new planted vineyards joined forces in Bannockburn a historic gold-mining town in Central Otago. Upon a handshake they decided to produce wine under one label and Mt. Difficulty was born. The 1998 vintage was their first and over the years, they have grown. Today they are comprised of many vineyards spanning Central Otago, from Gibbston to Lowburn Valley, to Bendigo, with their home still under the mountain at Bannockburn. The nose on their 2018 Pinot Gris opens up with white jasmine alongside white peach, pear and warming spice. The palate displays these same characters in abundance, while the mid-palate is full, creamy and leesy. This is a wonderful example of the style and we're sure you will a-gris!

Robin says "Mt. Difficulty is one of New Zealand's most revered producers and based on the quality of their Bannockburn Pinot Gris, it is easy to see why. Produced in an Alsatian style, it is more spicy and leesy than fruit-driven and displays a gorgeous unctous texture and a touch of residual sugar, adding weight, whilst still remaining "dry". A beautiful wine that would nicely accompany a delicious Indian curry or other slightly richer dishes."
