PWR Poor Ranch Zinfandel Mendocino County 2015

AVA Mendosino, California, USA

100% Zinfandel | 15% ABV

£18.50

We are delighted to offer this American red wine from California made with 100% Zinfandel grapes. Despite its ripe compote fruit core, this wine still has a good lift and freshness since it comes from a vineyard planted at 900 feet in Mendocino, the county that lies due north of Sonoma. An approachable style of a fulfilling wine.

"Wine is an endlessly fascinating beverage that rewards patient and attentive study. First and best, of course, it is a pleasure to be shared with friends and loved ones. May our wines be a part of your celebrations and special moments." says Matt

Husband and wife team Matt Reid and Marcy Webb conceived The People’s Wine Revolution in 2009 to bring great wines to all at reasonable prices.

PWR source their grapes from some of California’s most amazing vineyards, across Sonoma, Mendocino County, and Suisun Valley.

The 2015 Zinfandel comes from the Easter Block, a 2.6-acre block planted at 900' in 1996. It has yielded a mere 2.0 tons to the acre over the past decade. On September 4, 2015, we picked 3.1 tons at 26.2° Brix.

The Poor Ranch was first planted in the 1880s on a hillside east of Hopland, in Mendocino County. The vineyard is dry-farmed and certified CCOF-Organic. The vines have never been irrigated. The vineyard blocks range from 860'- 1800' elevation, and are almost always high above the fog that can affect much of Mendocino County.

Red | Still | 75cl | 15% ABV

Cellaring: Drinking well now.

Vinification: The wine fermented to dryness in an open-top tank and then matured in neutral French oak barrels to allow the special character of the vineyard site to shine through.
