The Fledge & Company Jikken Bareru Nel & Coetzee Steen 2020
This aromatic Chenin (or Steen in local lingo) from The Fledge & Co is for the adventurous, produced from grapes that are from two vineyards that are 50 and 35 years old, respectively. For this wine they say, "the sum is greater than its parts". It spends 3 months on fine lees (the yeasts that remain after fermentation). This gives added complexity and creaminess taking over from the sumptuous citrus, yellow plum and pear flavours.
Robin says "Jikken Bareru is The Fledge & Company's experimental series of wines, which allows them to push boundaries a bit further in terms of winemaking techniques. All wines are limited, often to only a few barrels. So definitely worth seeking out!"

Such a cool story
I read up a bit on these guys after trying the wine, and it is such a cool story. This wine is delicious and was great with the seafood we had for dinner. For something quite boutique, and well made I thought the price was excellent.
