In the 1960's the Hannel-Hundinger (with a name like that it has to be good!) family founded the estate in the Pfalz region of Germany. The current custodian, grandson Gerald, runs the day to day, while his father Frithjof works in the vines. Rieslaner is a cross between Riesling and Sylvaner and both grapes have given their attributes to this delicious, and straightforward wine. Though somewhat discreet on the nose, its palate comes to life with expressive notes of succulent muscat grapes, white pineapple and lime zest. A lovely saltiness on the finish adds dimension and lift.
Robin says "Rieslaner is a fun and appealing grape variety that one does not easily find. Weingut Kaiserbaum produces a fresh, succulent version that isn't too sweet or heavy.
