Weingut Hexamer Porphyr Riesling 2016
£16.00
Family grape growers in Nahe since the 17th Century, in he 1960’s Helmut and Elizabeth Hexamer decided to create their own Domaine. Son Harald and his wife Petra carry the family name in some style. Of the 30 hectares, 20 are dedicated to Riesling. Based on this wine, you can see why! This wine opens up with a gunflint nose and earthy undertones. On the palate there is a firm mineral touch to its texture and it offers additional notes of orange, grapefruit and succulent grape. Finishes smoky and pure, though still discreet and stylish.
Robin says "I absolutely love this wine. Its sweetness level is what some call "German dry", meaning it isn't bone-dry but it isn't properly off-dry either. It lies nicely in between due to Riesling's vibrant acidity and the porphyr minerality balancing the succulent fruit. Excellent value. "
